Great thinkers have asserted that time itself is a construct, and that linear time is an illusion, but honestly—what does that information do to help?
The Six of Cups is about nostalgia, rumination, speculation, and examining the past to applying what you’ve learned. Mostly though, this card is about recentering with what’s important.
It’s also commonly suggested that examining the past is the best way to predict the future, that unexamined history is destined to repeat itself. This card purports that history and future are more complex than that.
There are no answers in this card, at least no linear ones. When facing a cyclone of questions, we may actually be looking into an emotional well of our utter lack of control.
When this card arrives, remember that it’s fine to reflect, but it’s also futile at some point. Simple tasks can be difficult tasks. You’ll find greater solace in simply recentering yourself in community, love, playfulness, and patience. Water your roots and grow at your own pace.
