Eight of Cups Meaning - Mother Tarot Minor Arcana Card #8

Eight of Cups | Mother Tarot Deck by Wren McMurdo

The Eight of Cups in the Mother Tarot Deck asks: Are you feeling the weight of the world today? ⁣ The Divine Feminine is eternally sacrificing for the sake of the Universe. Having devolved away from Her, we habitually sacrifice our Mother Earth (and ourselves) for the sake of human agenda. ⁣ This card may point to a self-care crisis, an environmental crisis, or simply the need to emote more authentically so that deeper thinking can begin.⁣ This Eight may also point to abuse and cognitive dissonance. Abuse is not defined as being only physical in nature. In fact, one’s emotional and mental wellbeing is impacted by each transgression that doesn’t show compassion towards the self and others. ⁣ Each rude or cold comment, each litter toss, each decision to bury one’s emotions in favor of keeping social niceties is a demonstration of cognitive dissonance.⁣

Burying one’s feelings inside the body causes pressure to build and eruptions (and/or illnesses) to fire. ⁣ This card is an invitation to notice what is causing emotional pain and give yourself the permission you need to speak your truth. Cry if needed, which releases toxic energy from the body. Then, consider what spiritual weight you might shed for greater ease and freedom.⁣
